President Joe asked for a moment to remember Richard Crespi, a fellow Rotarian who recently passed away.  A card was passed around for members to sign.
 
The December 10th meeting will be the annual Christmas Event at Taunton High School. There was a membership meeting prior to the November 19th meeting.  The committee examined opportunitities to explore and asked members to watch for more details.

Happy & Sad Bucks

Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation? 

  • Dick S spoke about the Forest of Light program at The First Parish Church in Taunton.  Dick also passed around examples of the Lions Club calendar for sale.
  • Ray M thanked Katie M for taking the notes from the November 12th meeting.
  • John B was happy that the Patriots won but sad they lost Edelman.
  • Joe L was sad at the Giants loss to the Patriots but reminded everyone that they lost in 2007 and went on to beat the Pats in the Superbowl.
  • Joe M was happy that the Celtics look to be exciting this year. Joe also noted that he will be hosting 30 people for Thanksgiving.  Also a correction made to the previous week's notation....Joe is happy that his son moved out of the house because he is proud of him purchasing his new home.  You should be proud Joe!!

Foundation moves up on expert list of top nonprofits

 

The Rotary Foundation has continued its steady growth, moving up one spot to 93rd in The Chronicle of Philanthropy’s  of the top 400 nonprofit organizations in the United States. The ranking is based on monetary contributions from private sources and reflects the increasing generosity of those who support Rotary’s mission.

According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the Foundation received $259,594,884 in 2014, an 8.3 percent increase from the previous year.

The Foundation recently earned from , the largest and most prestigious independent evaluator of nonprofits in the U.S.

 Dick Shafer introduced Shane Trimble as the guest speaker.  Shane discussed all the traffic and road construction projects either underway or on the table in Southeastern Massachusetts.  Projects discussed included the Southcoast Rail, Middleboro rotary, Rt 24/140 interchange, Berkley/Dighton bridge, Rt 24 bridge replacement at the Raynham line, Orchard Street interchange, Signal at Rt 138 near Center Street, the bridge on 138 over Rt 495 and the Washington Street bridge in Taunton.  After several questions and some spirited discussion Shane received a Rotary mug from Dick S and President Joe.
