 President's Announcements

President Joe announced that the Board Meeting on 6/16 would take place at the Jockey Club. All are invited. 

The June 23 meeting, this Thursday, will include the election of next year's officers. It will also feature President Joe's
End of Year Address.
 
In two weeks, at the June 30th meeting, we will have the installation of new officers. 

Please note, there will be no meeting on July 7. Have a Happy Independence Day week!

Happy & Sad Bucks
 
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
 
  • Kit had a thrilled buck for her team raising $720 at the raffle table at Pancake and Family Fun Day.

  • Russ had $2. One to recognize Maureen's birthday. The second is for the success of Pancake and Family Fun Day, especially the hard work of John B., Rich V., and Dave C.

  • Phil was happy to have attended a recent Water for Cambodia fundraising dinner and to see the Taunton Rotary listed in the program along with six others supporting this project.

  • John B. had three thank you bucks: to President Joe for continuing Pancake and Family Fun Day; to the Rotarians who worked at Pancake and Family Fun Day; and to the volunteers who joined us.

  • Rich V had two thanks yous: to Christine and all her help with the food. And to everyone else for working so hard at the event.

  • Dave C. had a thank you buck for his team, especially the Interact kids.

  • Tom Porter was happy that Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Goran, and Mrs.Porter were over having lunch together. He was also happy to be back with the club for the day.

  • Dick S. was happy for the success of the event. He felt it was a great visibility day for Rotary. He also shared a reminder for the upcoming Taunton River event.

  • Carol had $5 for the success of the event.

  • Dan had thank yous to President Joe and the team captains.

  • Ed had $5 for Rich's and Dave's early morning anxiety.

  • Pres Joe had $4. One sad buck for having just failed a cyber security test at work. Two happy bucks, one for each of the bank robbers who were just caught. And one more happy buck for Pancake and Family Fun Day .

Recent news from the Rotary Foundation:
 
There is a new article on the Rotary homepage, written by Frank Bures. Titled "Open to Interpretation," the article discusses the author's love of books and how they share a glimpse into how people of a certain culture see themselves. The article begins: "Whenever I arrive in a new country, one of the first places I go is a bookstore. I do this for several reasons. Having spent much of my life and income in them, I always find them to be comforting spaces. And they often stock more specific maps and guides than you can get outside the country..."

Program Speaker
 
This past week was an introduction of the two students the Taunton Rotary Club is sponsoring on a trip to Taunton, England. There was also a Pancake and Family Fun Day recap with the chairs of each committee.
 
At this week's meeting, President Joe will give his End of Year Address. The election of next year's officers will also take place.
