The Board of Directors has approved a club fee to support our club operations. This invoice will be sent out soon, so please be on the lookout.
Congratulations are due to Beth Teixeira-Ferraro who is to be sworn in as a judge on September 25.
Joe Mitchell shared a Foundation Minute about the 2 billion children who have been vaccinated from polio since 1985. Only 2 countries remain with polio, and we are all urged to donate to eradicate this virus.
At our most recent meeting...
The club was pleased to welcome Paula Raposa, Asst. District Gov., Kit Tunney, Barbara Hunt, and Claire Fowler. And our guests from Taunton, England.
Our meeting was largely a gathering of Rotarians from Taunton, England, and Taunton, Massachusetts. Members of both groups shared their enthusiasm for this trans-Atlantic meeting. We reminisced about the Youth Exchange program with a number of people who have participated over the years. We also enjoyed a ceremonial sounding of the Post Horn, which was a gift from their club to ours. Presumably, this was the first time members of their club were able to hear it sounded--thanks, Lou! There was enthusiasm to have another meeting like this again in the future, and perhaps even an actual gathering of the two clubs when it is safe to do so. Thanks to all for a unique and special Rotary meeting!
Next week we look forward to two classification talks from our new members.
