Club News & Announcements
Our most recent club meeting was held on October 2 at Stoneforge and was led by President Bob.
Bob thanked those who were able to attend our recent evening meeting at La Familia. There was a good turnout, delicious food, and great camaraderie!
We had the distinct pleasure to formally welcome our newest Rotarian: Heather Chew, of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South! Bob presided over the formal induction and "pinned" Heather into Rotary. We're so pleased to have you, and welcome to Rotary, Heather!
News From the Interact Club:
The Taunton High Interact Club is going to once again be participating in the City of Taunton’s annual Trunk or Treat on October 25th and asked if our Rotary Club members could consider making donations of candy. The Interact Club will be preparing for this event at theirOctober 10th & 24th general membership meetings. Please bring any donations to our Rotary meetings, and we'll get them to the Interactors. đź“… Upcoming Events:
At Our Most Recent Meeting...
...we were able to hear about the Unite for Purpose: Together We Stand District event recently held at Bridgewater State University. Zulmira and Joe attended on behalf of our club. They shared the "speed-dating" topics of International, District Grants, Polio Plus, Environmental Sustainability, Peace and Conflict, and 501c3 Foundation, DEIB, Membership, Public Image, Youth Engagement, Youth Exchange, and RYLA. Thanks to them both for both attending, and for sharing the message with us!
Ed had a sad buck for the recent passing of Edwin Paige Jr. Mike T. is at the funeral, so he added a thank you buck to Maureen for helping out at the desk.
Carol had 5 happy bucks. The first was for Zulmira for a recent recognition she received. The rest for for a lovely story. Her granddaughter Meghan is a teacher in Vermont who works at a soup kitchen on Sundays. Recently and older man came up to her and asked if she was a teacher. When she said yes, he asked if she could teach him how to read. Of course, she said yes.
Sarah had a happy buck that the CBDs new space at Ingell Street is great. She's also glad the project is done and ready for the next one!
Dick had a happy buck for his MA250 plate which he just attached and looks great!
Zulmira had a happy buck for the recognition from her executive training coach. A happy buck for the Red Sox winning Game 1. A sad buck for the Yankees winning Game 2. And a hopeful buck for Game 3.
John D. had happy bucks: Callum has moved from Tufts Boston to a local hospital, making good progress, and should be home early November! He also hired a new team member, and is looking forward to shooting with the FBI tomorrow at the Sig Sauer plant in New Hampshire.
Bob R. had a hopeful buck: Deadline is coming up for bids to be submitted for the Taunton campus of BCC!
