Club News & Announcements

Past President Bob ran our weekly meeting.

A reminder about billing:
Rotary meals are going to be billed every 2 months going forward. That is more frequent than in the past, so we want to be sure that everyone has time to let their billing managers know: if they see more frequent bills, it isn't more billing it's just more frequent billing. If you have any questions you can talk with Joe, Maureen, or Ed.

We were pleased to welcome a few guests to this week's meeting.

Shavon brought Melissa Langham, TASC Assistant Director, as well as some flyers for AHS CNA paid training program,

Ed had guests, including Claire as well as Maryann Cabral and her husband Chris Cabral who is a fellow coin collector and expert.

At our most recent meeting...

Our speaker this week was Ed Fowler. Ed brought his coin collection in and shared the coins’ history. He wore his eagle shirt -many examples of American currency have an eagle in some format.

What is considered a rare coin? American coins are most collected because starting in the 1700s, the mint, year, and how many coins started to be tracked. What determines rareness is how many have been found/survived and graded by grading companies. Grading stabilized values. Ed showed some rare coins and explained their rating. Sometimes the coin’s story helps make it rare as well. We heard numerous stories and historical facts about the rare coins in his collection.
