The "Family Feud-style" fundraiser at the Elks has been rescheduled for September 26 noon.
Dan reported that he has received a number of thank yous for 100th anniversary donations. Planning for the 10/28 dinner continues.
A reminder that our District Celebration and Installation will be taking place September 18 at SeaCrest Beach Hotel in Falmouth. Clubs are invited to display service projects at the event if interested, and we may do a display of all of our projects of the past year.
Also on September 18, we have a table at the VFW's 100th celebration for anyone who would like to attend a more local event that day.
Carol Sullivan shared Rotarians in the news.
At our most recent meeting...
Prez. Bob led a discussion around the topic of "Should Self Interest Motivate Service?"
We are now accepting funds using Venmo. Our account is @Rotary-Taunton, but the visible name shows up as “Rotary Taunton Rotary Taunton.”
Katie had a sad buck for having to leave early. (This is also why the "At our most recent meeting" section is so sparse!)
Shavon had 5 happy bucks. 3 for her kids starting their semesters. The other two were for her brother and grandaughter--who will be 3 this week!
Zulmira had a buck for her son moving into his apartment at Suffolk. She was sad that the he and his roommates all showed up with no appliances plates, utensils, etc. She added a happy buck to not haven been caught in the storm while moving.
Dick had a happy buck for a great vacation. He added a promotion buck for Taunton River Festival coming up on 9/12 and encouraged Rotary to have a table--Non-profits and sponsors are free!
Carol Sullivan had a happy/sad for having officially moved Meghan into her Vermont apartment for her new teaching job. She added a happy buck to be back on cab duty for her granddaughters.
Joe M. was happy to be able to do a live happy buck. It was his first in-person Rotary meeting since March 2020! He was also happy for his annual trip to Portugal which went safely and uneventfully.
Dan. Had a happy buck to see Joe. He also had a buck for his 8 year old grandson starting school, and another for generally being happy that lots of things are happening and being productive and good!
Ed had a "Good news for Claire buck" who was finishing her 6th round of chemo while we were at lunch. He was happy for his Seekonk grandkids starting school. And he had a Sad Buck for all the people having to commute on 24 to Fall River in the flood waters, but happy for the guys who he saw working on it and trying to fix it!
Bob was happy to be opening at Bristol on Tuesday for the start of the new year and enrollment looks good and the renovation was on budget too! He also added a happy buck that his appointment last week at Mass General went well.
