Last week saw our annual District Governor’s visit from Governor Bill Tennant. Bill is a member of the Braintree Club and resides in Raynham with his fiancée Deb Zurowski, a member of the Bridgewaters club. Deb was also in attendance. Bill is a retired mechanic. He encouraged club members to “Be the Inspiration” by doing, remaining active in the community. He said the Rotary is where people unite and together makes it happen. Rotary is a membership organization and we should tend to membership first. He spoke of the importance of the RYLA program and said that members should get to know the organization on the district level. He marveled at the success of the Polio Plus program and is now aware of only 15 active cases in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Bill and Melinda Gates are also offering two for one matches for contributions to Polio Plus. He put in a plug for Rotary Night at the Providence Bruins on November 9 where $5 of every ticket goes to polio. He believes that the hallmarks of Rotary are fellowship and community. |
