From the President
President Carol ran our meeting at Stoneforge. Our scratch ticket raffle starts this week! Everyone is going to be billed for 5 tickets and we have 400 to sell. So, sell, sell, sell!  For your calendars, our Head Start Christmas Party is going to be December 19th. Also, we are accepting applications for next year's Rotary Youth Exchange. If you know of someone who would like to go, please see Ed for an application.
Guests
You can bring a guest to a Rotary meeting!
This week we welcomed:

  • Melinda Ocasio, Julie's guest

  • Vickie Danahey, John's guest

  • Joe Livingston, Assistant District Governor

  • Charlene Jarest, District Governor-Elect, our speaker

Last Week's Speaker

Our speaker last week was Charlene Jarest, District Governor-Elect. She shared news from the District and some of the goals upcoming for her Rotary Year. She suggested our club establish a Membership Chair as well as someone to be receiving information on District Grants which could be used to support our projects. There is also a Vibrant Club Training coming up, on October 26. She also encouraged everyone to be sure to set up a My Rotary account. You can do this at https://my.rotary.org/en. This becomes your own personal connection to Rotary International. It links to your club. It tracks your charitable giving. There is a ton of information on there that should be helpful.

Happy Bucks
Did you know that your happy and sad bucks help the club make a donation to the Rotary Foundation?
  • Ed had a happy buck for the silver certificates in last week's happy bucks and a great day at the Patriots game last week.
  • Joe L. had a sad buck for the US team losing to England in the Rugby World Cup. He had a very happy buck for Daniel Jones.
  • Julie had a sad buck for the sudden loss of her father-in-law. She had a thankful buck to be able to go to Atlanta next week for services. And a happy buck for her 20th wedding anniversary.
  • Zulmira had a "we'll miss you buck" for Dan's news that he will be retiring from AHS in December. She also had a happy buck for all he has done for TASC.
  • Will had a buck for his oldest daughter joining the Interact Club and joining the JV Cross Country team and posting some of their fastest times--as an 8th grader! He also had a buck for his younger daughter who is excited about her upcoming field trip at the OCHM this week!
  • John D. had a happy buck for his wife joining him for lunch. He was happy to be a part of an upcoming cybersecurity seminar at the State House on October 17th. He was also happy to have joined a municipal cybersecurity group which will be working to help local communities protect their information.
  • Charlene was a happy buck to be with us for lunch.
