At our most recent meeting, Katie Dawkins served as our Program Chair. She arranged for Monica Lombardo, Vice President of Advancement at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South to join us for lunch. Monica was excited and thankful to be part of the Boys & Girls Club for the last five years and for the last two years for getting to know the Taunton community better. Working together towards the merger has been extremely rewarding, knowing the club now serves the Metro South community a much broader and undefined region then Taunton and Brockton. The Clubs serve nearly 2,500 youth a year, roughly 350 a day in Brockton and 200 a day in Taunton. Serving over 100,000 nightly meals a year! Club memberships are just $35 a year, and no child has ever turned away for the inability to pay. Direct costs of delivering high-impact programs are more than $800 per member, each member receives over 1,000 hours of homework help each year. Club memberships are life-changing, providing youth with enriching programs and support services which they need to fuel healthy development and set them on the path to a great future. Our Clubs primary focus is a safe, fun place for youth to learn and grow. |
